| Intermatic digital control centers -vs- older-style mechanical control centers. The added layer of electronics, and remote control options, lets customer choose a panel with wider range of control not available using mechanical control centers ... from operating a pool pump and heater, pool lights, to operating a full range of pool equipment and accessories.  For example, the 3-channel P1353 timer is at the heart of some Intermatic digital control centers.
P1353ME
is 3-channel programmable timer that can control 3 separate
120-240 volt (and 208 volt) devices (each with different schedule) .... or control 2-speed
pool pump and 1 other device. Choose from 5 different operating modes. Connection points for a freeze accessory and fireman's switch. Additional connection point for remote control operation via hand held P953 controller.    For wireless control over pool functions, Intermatic offers the hand held P953 that can be used two different ways.1) Install the PE650 transceiver and antenna on top of the control panel, then use hand held P953 to override the 3-channel P1353 timer 2) Or go fully remote control: Install the 5 channel PE653 on top of control panel, and program all operations into hand held P953. The hand held P953 wirelessly signals all operations through the 5 channel PE653.  Another level of convenience is available by snapping the P4243
actuator control into an empty slot in the panel. The P4243
actuator control can toggle water flow from the pump
between pool and spa. It does this via 24 volt connections to two PE24VA130 actuators that manually rotate a pair of valves that are installed as part of pool-spa plumbing.Each Intermatic control center is adaptable and repairable for years of service. This lets folks customize the installation, and add a 3-channel P1350 timer to the same panel with 5-channel PE653, along with circuit breakers, switches, GFCI outlet ... low voltage pool light control, etc. Unlike competitors, Intermatic has clearly numbered parts sheets and parts are widely available. |

Use two hot wires plus neutral and ground if equipment is 120 volt and 240 volt or if GFCI is used at control panel. |

In this configuration, the hand held P953 controller can override both the timer function, and actuator function. All operations are programmed into the PE953 remote control, which has manual override button for each operation.... Wiring applications The PE953 programming is automatically broadcast (wirelessly) to the PE653 5-channel contactor that is mounted to top of enclosure.
