shot
timer mode Input voltage from 100-240 volt. Some models, 12-24 volt AC-DC input. Choose mode between One shot or Repeat-cycle. Timer has dry NO NC terminals, so you can connect any voltage to switch terminals. Set Repeat cycle or One shot Mode To set One Shot (also called: on delay, off delay, or countdown) - Apply power to timer. Press MD for 3 seconds. Press MD to choose settings: minute, second, hour. When t,nod appears, select the 4 dashes, then press and hold MD button for 3 seconds to exit Mode. To set times, the Lock mode must be OFF. Once you exit Mode, press RES button to set time A and then press MD to set Time B. One shot mode is either On delay or Off delay depending how timer is wired. After the time period expires, the load turns OFF or ON and remains ON or OFF until you reset by momentarily connecting and then disconnecting terminals 4 and 3 with a Normally open push button, or timer, home automation, etc... or reset timer by disconnecting and reconnecting power to timer. To set Repeat cycle (this is for a blinking application on-off-on- ... or a repeating either-or application - Apply power to timer. Press MD for 3 seconds. Press MD to chose settings: minute, second, hour. When t,nod appears, select the rectangle with dashes, then press and hold MD button for 3 seconds to exit Mode. To set times, the Lock mode must be OFF. Once you exit Mode, press RES button to set time A and then press MD to set Time B. If seconds are chosen for time period A, then time period B must also be seconds. For example a car alarm is a cycle or twin timer ... honk-honk-honk indefinitely until power is cut. Christmas displays, and blinking store lights etc use twin timer in cycle mode. Timer starts when it receives power and stops when power is off. Then it restarts when power resumes. For example you can set the repeat cycle to turn on for 10 minutes and off for 99 minutes. Mode A would be 10 minutes, Mode B would be 99 minutes. Or ... turn on for 10 minutes and then turn on another circuit for 99 minutes. You can pause the timer by connecting terminals 2 and 4, or reset timer by momentarily connecting terminals 4 and 3. You can control power to the twin timer using a 7-day timer for example, or another twin timer, home automation device etc. |
Panel mount digital twin timerPV shows the time left in the count up for Mode B... so there is .78 seconds left before it switches to Mode ASV shows 2.99 ... which is the set time I choose for Mode B When 2.99 seconds ends, Mode A set time will display. Image shows the Inkbird twin timer. Use this timer in repeat cycle mode to control red nose on Rudolph reindeer. Set Mode A to 30 seconds and Mode B for 2 seconds. Rudolph's nose will blink on and off as long as power is applied to red nose and timer. Poultry fan can turn ON for 20 minutes each hour. Irrigation pump can be set to run 30 seconds each hour. Ventilation fan can be turned on for 15 minute intervals Add a second timer or photo eye on incoming power line so timing function can take place during the day. Add rain sensor and relay to incoming power line so irrigation pump does not run after it rains. Buy 2-Pole 40A resistive 120Volt coil 40 amp 240Volt coil 24 volt coil Resource Contactors |
Repeated ON Delay using digital twin timer in cycle modeTwin timer has two time periods that can turn a load on-off, on-off, on-off continually until power is turned off..... or reset to start point by momentarily connecting terminals 4 and 3.Each time period can be same or different. You set time period for mode A and then set time period for mode B Time period ranges from .01 second to 99.99 seconds/ or .01 hour to 99.99 hours. If seconds are chosen for time period A, then time period B must also be seconds. Suppose you want a light bulb to turn on with switch and remain on, and also want a buzzer to sound 20 minutes later. Then you want buzzer to turn OFF after 30 seconds. (the light bulb remains on) Then you want buzzer to sound again 20 minutes later... and then turn OFF after 30 seconds. Set twin timer for hours. Mode A is set for 00.30 and Mode B is set for 00.03 Operation sequence: Move single-pole switch to ON position and light bulb turns ON and remains ON until switch is turned OFF. First delay begins for 20 minutes. When delay period expires, the buzzer turns ON for 30 seconds. Second delay ends after 30 seconds and Buzzer turns OFF. First delay period begins again With a twin timer, the sequence keeps repeating until light switch is turned OFF. air conditioner thermostat *(or any circuit) using DH48S twin timer. Note: the illustration shows twin timer terminals on opposite side from product manual. This was done for ease of making illustration. Problem: air conditioner runs too much during peak electric prices. A programmable thermostat for the air conditioner can control peak usage by raising temperature and reducing hours of operation during peak times, but it cannot be programmed to limit actual number of run-time minutes per hour. This diagram solves problem without compromising integrity of AC motor or equipment. Steve says: I've been able to make the DH48S-S (twin timer) work pretty well for my need of limiting the run time of air conditioning compressor. My twin timer has a 24VAC coil so it I can hook it directly to the thermostat wires. Here's how I wired it up: Yellow (compressor) wire from tstat connected to terminal 7 (the 24vac coil) Tstat common wire to terminal 2 (the 24vac coil) Jumper from terminal 7 to terminal 8 (continue yellow wire to relay common) Yellow wire going to air conditioner contactor connects to terminal 5 on twin timer (relay normally closed contact) Set the time1 to 5 minutes (the "disallowed" off time") Set the time2 to 10 minutes (the "allowed but limited to x minutes" on time) So when the thermostat calls for cooling, putting 24 volt power on the yellow wire, it powers the timer and powers the relay, causing air conditioner to run for up to 10 minutes. If the thermostat stops calling before 10 minutes, the twin timer is unpowered and when it calls again, it starts in the "allowed but limited" t2 at 00 minutes, and allows it to go to 10 minutes. Beautiful! I also have a second timer that is set to the peak hours of 3 to 8 pm and it bypasses the twin timer during those times. Footnote about fuse: The illustration shown above has the timer ON during regular prices, and OFF during peak pricing. If the fuse blows out, the timer will remain OFF. This means the twin timer will be in control of the AC cycle at all times, until a repair is made. If the wiring is changed, so timer is OFF during regular price, and ON during peak, then if fuse blows, the AC will run normally even during peak pricing. To make this change in wiring, simply switch wires on terminals 3 and 5. Use a 10 amp fuse to protect timer circuit. A fuse will protect the entire length of wire and the timers. The fuses rarely if ever blow out or have a problem. One shot timer application Max load on off-delay timer is 10 amp. How it works: Push doorbell button. Activates timer. Timer turns ON and begins countdown. Timer terminals 7 and 8 are ON. This causes contactor coil to energize. Circuit to recirculation pump is ON. When countdown expires, terminals 7 and 8 are OFF, contactor coil is de-energized, pump turns OFF. Twin timer can be set to one-shot mode, and with 120-240V, and operate .9 seconds to 99 hours. So the pump can run any length of time: 1 hour or 21 minites etc. Do not connect power to terminals 1 thru 5. Momentary contact switch Terminals 3-4 on the twin timer are for Reset. When terminals 3 and 4 are momentarily touched together using a momentary switch or a push button, it starts the recirculation pump. When the programmed time expires, the recirculation pump turns off, and the timer waits until the Reset is activated again. Do not apply power to terminals 3-4. For the reset to work, terminals 3 and 4 need to be joined or touched together and then disconnected from each other. If an ordinary on-off toggle switch is used instead of a momentary switch, the the toggle must be turned on and then off for the Reset to take place.
