timer
Can be used as relay, ON-delay, OFF delay, or all 3 at same time. 0-60 minute settings are approximate... experiment to fine tune setting. 8-pin base included with 8 screw terminals. Remove timer from base to attach wires. Recommend tightening screw plates very tight against wire, especially if using stranded wire. Do NOT solder end of stranded wire to make solid ... amperage will melt solder. Connect stranded wire to short jumper of solid copper wire and cover with twist on connector. Solid wire is not fire hazard. Stranded wire is greater fire hazard when under screw plate. Size: 2-1/2" tall with base included x 1-5/8" x 2" 120 volt off delay timer/ Contacts rate 120-208-240 Volt Rated for all loads incandescent (Tungsten), LED, CFL, resistive, inductive etc Rated 3 amp @ 240 volt -or- 6 amp @ 120 volt/ Up to 1/4 Hp @ 120 Volt 120 volts x 6 amps = 720 watt. delay/ 120 volt Off delay means the load turns ON immediately, and then load turns off after delay time expires. 3-way switch is convenient Any switch position will start the delay Click switch up starts delay... click switch down starts delay Load turns off after delay period expires Why the 3-way switch diagram works... because the switch is ON full time. When the timer receives power... the load turns ON until delay period expires... but timer is still receiving power. If you temporarily stop power from going to timer, by clicking the 3-way switch to another position, then the timer resets, the light turns ON again until the delay period expires. Load remains OFF until power is stopped and started again. If you use single-pole switch... then the switch must be turned off and then back on to restart delay. If single-pole switch is turned off, then load remains off |

delay/ NC push buttons added to circuit NC means normally closed... or the power is ON until button is pushed Compare: doorbell button is NO ... or power is off until button pushed Add as many NC push buttons as desired for remote operation As long as each push button is functioning correctly, the circuit works fine. Why it works... Power is ON continually at timer. When power is interrupted, and then restarted, the timer turns load ON and delay period starts. When delay period expires, the load turns OFF. Power remains On at the timer When push button is pushed again, the power is temporarily stopped to timer, and the cycle repeats Buy from my affiliate links: Normally closed push button switch at Amazon AH3-3 at Amazon |

delay/ 120 volt/ same as variant above Illustration shows 18 gauge wire going to remote switch Fuse and fuseholder are used to protect 18 gauge wire from overload. Why is the fuse required? Assume 120 Volt Hot that powers circuit is connected to 20 amp breaker. 18 gauge wire is not rated for 20 amp breaker. Larger 12 gauge wire is used with 20 amp breaker If a short circuit occurred somewhere along the 18 gauge wire, then the full 20 amps would pour into the small wire. This would cause wire to overheat. Overheated wire will melt and cause fire. To prevent fire and overheating hazard, add 5-10 amp inline fuse. The fuse can be installed anywhere along the 18 gauge wire, and will protect full length of wire. Diagram shows ordinary rocker switch. Use 3-way switch for easiest installation. Read descriptions above about 3-way switch. |

Delay Illustration shows ON delay wiring. On delay means the load turns ON after delay period expires. Load remains ON until power is off. Example uses ST01 timer as switch. (Or use Ei600... same timer with 5-year warranty) ST01 Timer can be set for dusk-dawn. Automatically turns lights ON at night, and off at dusk. ST01 Timer automatically adjusts for seasonal changes. ST01 Timer can be adjusted 20 minutes longer or shorter than actual dusk-dawn However some folks want longer delay before lights turn ON at night How it works: ST01 Timer turns ON. AH3 timer receives power. Time delay countdown begins. After delay period expires, light turns ON, and remains ON until ST01 timer turns OFF Cycle repeats next time the ST01 timer turns ON. Repeat On-of-off-delay/ Twin
timer or one-shot Twin timer works like ordinary delay timer. Turning load on or off after delay period The difference is the twin timer can be set to repeat the on-off-on-off-on-off cycle indefinitely until power is disconnected. Example: blinking store light, that is on for 4 seconds, off for a second, and then back on for 4 seconds |

ON
Delay using digital twin timer How to wire twin timer Twin timer has two time periods that turn on-off indefinitely. Each time period can be same or different. You set time period for mode A and then set time period for mode B Time period ranges from .01 to 99.99 seconds/ or .01 to 99.99 hours. If seconds are chosen for time period A, then time period B must also be seconds. Suppose you want light to turn on with switch, and want a buzzer to sound 20 minutes later. Then you want buzzer to turn OFF after 30 seconds. Then you want buzzer to sound again 20 minutes later... and then turn OFF after 30 seconds. Set twin timer for hours. Mode A is set for 00.30 and Mode B is set for 00.03 Operation sequence: Move single-pole switch to ON position and shop light turns ON and remains ON until switch is turned OFF. First delay begins for 20 minutes. When delay period expires, the buzzer turns ON for 30 seconds. Second delay ends after 30 seconds and Buzzer turns OFF. First delay period begins again With a twin timer, the sequence keeps repeating until light switch is turned OFF. Buy: Twin timers at Amazon Sestos twin timer Omron DH48S twin timer |

Add delay timer to photoeye
circuit using twin timer set for one-shot How to wire photoeye so it turns off 4 hours later Light turns on normally at dusk, then turns off after preset time expires. One shot (on or off delay) - Set mode for one-shot: Apply power to timer. Press MD for 3 seconds. Press MD to choose settings: minute, second, hour. When t,nod appears, select the 4 dashes, then press and hold MD button for 3 seconds to exit Mode. Once you exit Mode, press RES button to set Time A and Time B. To set times, the Lock mode must be OFF. Once you exit Mode, press RES button to set time A and then press MD to set Time B. If seconds are chosen for time period A, then time period B must also be seconds. Delay timer activates when photeye turns ON, and light turns on normally. When delay period expires, the light turns off, and timer resets to zero,. Timer and light remain OFF until photoeye activates the circuit again next night. Illustration shows twin timer timer.
