Copper ground wire.
Every device, load, metal enclosure etc must be grounded. Ground wire must be continuous throughout installation, never switched on-off, never used as a Neutral wire.
Generally ... use same size as other wire in circuit

armored cable
Non metallic flexible cables must carry ground wire, but do not have hazard of short circuit causing injury from shock.

Armored steel cable can be used as a grounded connection, and will protect wires from damage. Metal can be energized from an insulation failure.

All conduit ...metal, plastic ... flexible and rigid ... must be attached to structure, and attached to enclosures, boxes.
Movement, damage and deterioration are major cause of electrical failure.
Buy:
Non-metallic flexible conduit

Electrical tools must be insulated.
Always best to disconnect power, but insulation failure, lack of proper grounding, grounded neutral, lack of GFCI, out-of-code wiring, generator operating without transfer switch, and other problems still pose a risk to anyone working on electric power ... even when breaker is off.

Typical wiring diagrams

''Choice of contactors for large amp loads is dependent upon many parameters i.e. operating voltage, size of contacts, number of operations, ambient temperature, type of load supplied etc.
Higher the inductive load (motor etc) the more contactor life must be derated.

Heat dissipation
The ambient temperature around a contactor can affect its life expectancy. With high temperatures adversely affecting lifespan of all electric and electronic devices. It is recommended that heat dissipation or barrier is added between contactors and adjacent devices''
Do NOT add a vent fan to electrical boxes. The introduction of air supply is accelerant of fire hazard. All enclosures should be closed off with appropriate, electrically-approved cover for the enclosure
DC contactor
DC circuit breaker
3-pole contactor wired for DC loads
DC direct current is different than AC alternating current.
Both types of electricity move electrons across conductive materials over time
Both are available in variety of voltages
AC electrons reverse direction or cycle with the generator rotation. DC electrons travel one direction from positive to negative.

AC current is a wave that crosses zero volts each time generator rotates 50-60 times per second,. US 60 cycles. Europe Asia 50 cycles.
DC current is a straight line. The voltage does not oscillate like AC. Electrons flow through circuit at same voltage at all times.
When high voltage AC is turned off, the voltage drops to zero frequently.
When AC voltage hits zero, then the arc or spark or heat is easy to extinguish.
Result: AC switchgear like contactors last million repetitions without melting the points
High voltage DC is different. When high voltage DC is turned off, the electrons keep pushing. Voltage never reaches zero.
Result: DC voltage causes arc or spark or heat that is difficult to stop. Basically the electrons keep piling into the contactor.
DC switchgear must be rated for DC voltages, and be capable of extinguishing DC arc.
Illustration shows one method of extinguishing DC arc using 3-pole contactor. The circuit has 3 parallel switches on the positive wire.
With a 4-pole contactor, 3 poles can be used to turn off Positive, and 1 pole to turn off Negative
Add resistor in parallel with inductive winding* helps eliminate arcs. *Inductive winding is motor load

        Contact blocks/ pneumatic timer attachments.
Activated by mechanical action of contactor, instead of electric current.
On delay timers delay start time./
Once the timer block activates, the countdown begins.
When countdown ends, the timer's internal relay activates.
Adding timer block, allows the contactor to control additional circuit with time delay.
