 Non metallic flexible cables must carry ground wire, but do not have hazard of short circuit causing injury from shock. Armored steel cable can be used as a grounded connection, and will protect wires from damage. Metal can be energized from an insulation failure. All conduit ...metal, plastic ... flexible and rigid ... must be attached to structure, and attached to enclosures, boxes. Movement, damage and deterioration are major cause of electrical failure. Contactor block is
made to
attach onto contractors and motor controls. There are a wide variety of contactors. Not every contactor has the contactor block attachment. The contactor block is activated pneumatically when the contactor energized. Contactor pulls down a plunger on the contactor block. The contactor block is electrically separate from contactor wiring, and can be used with separate voltage. For example, control a 12-24 volt AC-DC circuit. The contactor block does not require electric power to function ... it is activated mechanically. The block can also be wired as shown, using the coil-control voltage for the contactor The block can be wired to another contactor to control large amp loads. The benefit of a contactor block is the addition of on-delay and off-delay function to circuit. When contactor energizes, the delay period on the contactor block begins. Contactor shown is analog, and is set to approximate time using dial on face of block. Other blocks are digital, so times can be set precisely. Except the digital block needs a neutral connection to power the digital time-clock. Recommend adding a fuse on the hot wire supplying voltage to both the contactor block and to the contactor coil.
