Single
pole wiring Single pole switch has 2 wires plus bare copper ground wire. Timer works for Incandescent light bubs up to 600 watts No underground wiring Maximum distance 100' (Most inwall timers have same distance limit) No neutral wire needed Single pole switch has two wires + plus bare ground wire. One of the wires connected to switch will be Hot wire. Connect Timer Black to Hot wire Connect Timer Blue to other wire (Load wire). Connect bare copper wire to ground wire. Cap Timer Red wire. Timer Red is only used in 3-way wiring Turn power ON. Press timer door like a push-button switch. If light turns ON-OFF then timer is wired correctly If light does not turn ON-OFF, then reverse timer blue and black wires. Troubleshoot wiring: Reverse blue and black wires. Make sure red is capped. Make sure bulb works Check circuit breaker Check wire nuts are tight against both wires |

Typical
3-way
switch wiring Common screw is dark-colored Traveler-screws are brass colored Line side connects to line from breaker Load side connects to light |
|
Timer replaces one 3-way switch Other 3-way must be rewired |
Identify
wire that connects to common screw Usually the dark-colored screw 1) Take photo of wires before disconnecting old switch. 2) Note which wire connects to dark-colored screw 3) If screws are not color-coded: Look on back of old switch to see which screw is marked common, and then mark that wire as common. Common wire will connect to Timer Black wire, or Timer Blue wire. |
With timer on Load side: if electricity goes OFF, then timer will start to click on-off using the battery. If this happens, click the 3-way switch up or down. Afterwards, the timer will no longer click on-off. If power remains off for a while, the current time must be re-programmed. However the scheduled programs are not affected by power outage and remain in memory forever until timer is manually reset. |
3-way
/ Timer on Load side Timer on Load side Blue wire connects to wire that was connected to common screw Timer black wire must always be connected to Hot Blue wire must always go to Load When power is applied to red wire, the timer programming reverses. Remember, the remaining 3-way switch has to be rewired as if it was ordinary on-off switch using common screw and one traveller screw. When the switch is turned ON-OFF, it reverses timer programming. |

240Volt GFCI and T104 timer 240V GFCI has white wire. This wire must be connected to neutral busbar Wires going to Load connect to breaker in usual way, except there are 3 connection screws on 240 Volt GFCI Connect neutral going to Load to center screw on breaker Connect Hot leads going to Load to other two screws on breaker (either wire to either screw) General rule/ Load neutral not required: The Load Neutral does not have to be connected to center pole on breaker.
