Check general condition of gears.
Apply bit of white grease to steel gears.
Clock motor gears are plastic so they will not bind against steel gears.
If clock motor gear is stripped out where it meets steel gear, then the steel gears might have debris that is binding gears to a halt. Clean steel gears.

Look for model number.
Clock motors start with WG or CW etc

Clock wires connect to terminals on front of timer
Make sure clock wires do not interfere with moving parts
Tighten all screws very tight
Keep wires straight
Use solid copper wire
If wiring terminal or end of wire are covered with green, use emery board to clean terminal and sandpaper to clean wire.

Both wires MUST be same gauge
Straighten each wire
If wire is corroded or overheated, clean the end with sandpaper and wipe with cloth.
If wire has been melted, cut back and reattach, or replace wire.
Tighten screw very tight against copper wire

How to troubleshoot Intermatic timer

water heater element
Never assume power is OFF
Use non-contact voltage tester on timer, on wire, on outlet to see if power is present.
Press button on tester, if single beep then no power is present. If continuous beep then power is present.
Never stand on bare ground, always stand on dry boards, do not hold or touch anything metal when working on timer or water heater that has power, tape tester leads to wood sticks, never touch wet water heater, or flooded water heater, or timer that had a short or fire without turning power OFF.

Sprinkler timers
When planning watering times it is important to understand how the timer works. The timer just turns on-and-off, and each time the timer turns off, the sprinkler valve automatically advances to next zone. So the sprinkler valve is doing the mechanical job of advancing through each zone.

Rain sensor is not supplied with timer. Buy separate rain sensor. The rain sensor plugs into standard outlet. Connect the wires from rain sensor to terminals on timer. Do not apply voltage to rain sensor terminals.

T8845PV has 24Volt transformer with two yellow wires. Connect yellow wires to sprinkler solinoid. Connect 120Volt power to terminals marked Line and Neutral. Line is the black hot wire. Neutral is the white wire. Do not connect power to yellow wires.
