Non metallic flexible cables must carry ground wire, but do not have hazard of short circuit causing injury from shock. Armored steel cable can be used as a grounded connection, and will protect wires from damage. Metal can be energized from an insulation failure. All conduit ...metal, plastic ... flexible and rigid ... must be attached to structure, and attached to enclosures, boxes. Movement, damage and deterioration are major cause of electrical failure. Buy: Non-metallic flexible conduit Power whip Armored cable Southwire armored cable cutter Pull boxes |
Electrical tools must be insulated. Always best to disconnect power, but insulation failure, lack of proper grounding, grounded neutral, lack of GFCI, out-of-code wiring, generator operating without transfer switch, and other problems still pose a risk to anyone working on electric power ... even when breaker is off. Select voltage Some timers have dip switches Newest timers such as ET9000 automatically detect line voltage The other ET series timers have a jumper for selecting voltage. Jumper is located on back of timer. By default, the timer arrives with jumper positioned for 240 volts (as illustrated). Jumper position determines voltage for running clock, timer electronics, and magnetic switches. The wiring terminals are dry and receive no power when power is applied to timer terminals 1 and 2. To select 120Volt. Lift and move selector from 240V position to 120Volt position, and push selector down. |
|
Select function using jumper Some ET series models offer multiple function ET70000 and 90000 functions are programmed, and timer can perform multiple functions throughout week. Other ET models, such as ET1125 must be set for function ... and then timer stays in that function until jumper is moved again. Default setting is SIM for simultaneous. Both relays turn on-off at same time. Other functions include IND so that timer is able to control two separate loads, each with separate programming. |

2 independent loads IND Maximum combined load 30 amps. Control Two 120V-277V loads with Hot and Neutral Control Two 208-240Volt loads with Hot Line1 and Hot Line2 Wire terminals without jumper from supply voltage to control any voltage with relays. Buy: ET1125 timer ET1725C timer ET8215 timer Resource: ET1125 manual Timer is shipped default 120Volts. For 208,240,277 volt, set jumper located on back of timer. Timer will automatically adjust for daylight savings timer, or can be disabled using jumper on back of timer. For independent load operation (2 channel operation), move jumper from default SIM (simultaneous) to IND (independent. Resource: Color code for wire |
ET1125C offers SIM or IND for simultaneous or independent operation. Example wiring shows how to switch one wire to turn 120V or 240V motor on and off. Applies to 208V and 277V also. ET series timer are not rated for 347V, 480V or 600V. If a suitable phase voltage is not available, then use buck-boost transformer. This is the correct wiring for 120 volt if local codes prohibit switching the Neutral Buy: ET1125 timer ET1725C timer ET8215 timer |
|
ET Series timers are rated for low voltage applications, both AC and DC. The timer clock and relay fuction must be powered by 120V etc on terminals 1 and 2. For example 120 V Hot and Neutral can be connected to terminals 1 and 2 to power the timer, then same 120V can be used to energize a 24VAC transformer, or 12-24VDC LED driver ... then switch the low voltage load using terminals 3-4 and 5-6. By code, for safety, a shield must be installed between higher voltage lines and low voltage line ... especially where pool equipment is used. Buy: ET1125 timer ET1725C timer ET8215 timer |
