Copper ground wire.
Every device, load, metal enclosure etc must be grounded. Ground wire must be continuous throughout installation, never switched on-off, never used as a Neutral wire.
Generally ... use same size as other wire in circuit

armored cable
Non metallic flexible cables must carry ground wire, but do not have hazard of short circuit causing injury from shock.

Armored steel cable can be used as a grounded connection, and will protect wires from damage. Metal can be energized from an insulation failure.

All conduit ...metal, plastic ... flexible and rigid ... must be attached to structure, and attached to enclosures, boxes.
Movement, damage and deterioration are major cause of electrical failure.

Electrical tools must be insulated.
Always best to disconnect power, but insulation failure, lack of proper grounding, grounded neutral, lack of GFCI, out-of-code wiring, generator operating without transfer switch, and other problems still pose a risk to anyone working on electric power ... even when breaker is off.

Add delay timer to photoeye circuit
Light turns on normally at dusk, then turns off after preset time expires.
Set the delay timer to the exact minute, second or hour.
Delay timer activates when photeye turns ON, and light turns on normally.
When delay period expires, the light turns off, and timer resets to zero,. Timer and light remain OFF until photoeye activates the circuit again next night.twin timer

Twin timerChoose One shot mode
Input voltage from 100-240 volt. Some models, 12-24 volt AC-DC input.
Choose mode between One shot or Repeat-cycle.
Timer has dry NO NC terminals, so you can connect any voltage to switch terminals.
Repeat cycle or One shot Mode
To set One Shot (also called: on delay, off delay, or countdown) - Apply power to timer. Press MD for 3 seconds. Press MD to choose settings: minute, second, hour. When t,nod appears, select the 4 dashes, then press and hold MD button for 3 seconds to exit Mode. Once you exit Mode, press RES button to set Time A and Time B. To set times, the Lock mode must be OFF.
Once you exit Mode, press RES button to set time A and then press MD to set Time B.
If seconds are chosen for time period A, then time period B must also be seconds.

One shot mode is either On delay or Off delay depending how timer is wired. After the time period expires, the load turns OFF or ON and remains ON or OFF until you reset by momentarily connecting and then disconnecting terminals 4 and 3 with a Normally open push button, or timer, home automation, etc... or reset timer by disconnecting and reconnecting power to timer.

You can pause the timer by connecting terminals 2 and 4, or reset timer by momentarily connecting terminals 4 and 3.
You can control power to the twin timer using a 7-day timer for example, or another twin timer, home automation device etc.

Add 60 minute delay timer to photoeye circuit
Max on-off timer is 60 minutes for AH3
Light turns on normally at dusk, then turns off after preset time expires.
Set the analog delay timer to the approximate minute, second or hour.
Delay timer activates when photeye turns ON, and light turns on normally.
When delay period expires, the light turns off, and timer resets to zero,. Timer and light remain OFF until photoeye activates the circuit again next night.

AH3 off delay timer
Timer coil voltage 120V AC.
Contacts rated 3 amp at 240 Volt -or- 6 amp at 120 Volt
Volts x amps = watts/ 6 amp x 120 volt =  720 watts
Max 1/4 HP: bath fans are usually 1/6 Hp or 1/3 Hp. Recirculation pumps 1/25 Hp.
1/3 Hp attic fans are probably to large amp draw for this timer to operate long-term.
For long term, keep load amp draw smaller than load rating... or connect timer to contactor
AH3-3 timer
Can be used as relay, ON-delay, OFF delay, or all 3 at same time.
0-60 minute settings are approximate... experiment to fine tune setting.
8-pin base included with 8 screw terminals. Remove timer from base to attach wires.
Recommend tightening screw plates very tight against wire, especially if using stranded wire.
Stranded wire can become solid wire by adding solder.
Solid wire is not fire hazard. Stranded wire is greater fire hazard when under screw plate.
Size: 2-1/2" tall with base included  x 1-5/8" x 2"
120 volt off delay timer/ Contacts rate 120-208-240 Volt
Rated for all loads incandescent (Tungsten), LED, CFL, resistive, inductive etc
Rated 3 amp @ 240 volt -or- 6 amp @ 120 volt/ Up to 1/4 Hp @ 120 Volt
120 volts x 6 amps = 720 watt.
Bath fans are OK at 1/6 Hp/ Attic fans can run 1/3 to 1/2 Hp... suggest use contactor to carry load
Recirculation pumps are 1/25 Hp and delay timer works fine.

DH48S one-shot timer 8 pin timer wiringDH48S twin timer used as one-shot
It is possible to use this timer for one-shot (off-delay) application IF...
Let's say you want a one-shot timer that turns ON a light while a machine is operating, and then light remains ON for 55 minutes afterwards before turning OFF.
You select Minutes (M) for time A, and set time for 55.
Then select Hours (H) for time B, and set for 99 hours. Then as long as the machine-and-light circuit turned ON again before the 99 Hours expires, the timer will function as a one-shot.

Another example: You want outdoor light to turn ON normally at dusk using a dusk-dawn photoeye, but then light turns OFF 4 hours later.
Select Hours (H) for time A, and set time for 4.
Select Hours (H) for time A, and set time for 4.
Then select Hours (H) for time B, and set for 99 hours. Since the outdoor light turns ON again before the 99 hour expires, the DH48S will function as one-shot timer.
