Solid copper wire only Note the insulation is cut back away from screw terminals. Do not score or cut into copper when stripping wire. Use wire stripper and not knife. Do not install with insulation under screw terminal. Tighten screws very tight against solid copper wire. Use screwdriver that fits screw head. Undersized screwdriver will cause loose wire, fire, and melted terminal. Buy tools: Wire strippers Linesman pliers Utility knife |

Two 240 Volt loads or Two 208 Volt Loads Move motor leads to terminals A and 1 Turning off 1 Hot wire will turn off 240Volt circuit. Safety Note the T100 series timers are rated max 40 amp per pole ... a pole could be interpreted to mean a switching terminal or a screw terminal. If you are trying to control two 40 amp loads, then two timers are required. 40 amp + 40 amp = 80 amp .... 80 amp breaker would need size #2 wire ... see chart The maximum wire size that T100 series terminals will fit is #8 wire supplied from 40 amp breaker. The evidence and rating tell us that maximum for the timer ... no matter how many loads are controlled ... is 40 amps. Yes, the loads can be spit into 10 amp and 30 amp ... but be careful with wiring ... so only two wires are under each screw terminal, and both wires are solid copper and same gauge. If you want both Loads to turn on-off at different times, then you need two timers, or digital timer with two-channel capability such as GM40AVE, GMX2FM2, ET1100, ET1700, P1353 Resources 40 amp GM40 AVE 30 amp ET series timers 20 amp P1353 |

controls any voltage/ 120 volt,
480 volt, 12-24 volt, 277 volt using dry
terminals Move motor leads to terminals A and 1 Connect 240 Volt to A and 1 so clock motor runs. Connect any voltage to terminals 3 and 4/ and timer will switch terminals on-off 1-12 times per day depending on how many trippers are installed on the yellow clock face. Dry terminals 1-3 means no voltage is on terminals 1 and 3 unless a wire carrying power is connected. This means you can bring in 120 volt Hot wire and connect it to terminal 3, and it will remain insulated (separate) from the 240 volt on terminals A-1 When the T104 is wired like this,, the switching terminals 3-4 are dry. This means you can use the timer to switch any voltage ... T104 is rated for 24 volt AC or DC, and AC voltages 120-208-240-277-480 volt. Safety note: Low voltage (12-24 volt etc) wires must be insulated away from high voltage (120-240) wires. Technically, both sets of wires must be separated by electrically rated partition so that insulation failure, loose wire, short circuit etc cannot energize the low voltage lines. |

T-104/ 480 Volt load Install new clock motor rated for 480 volt Move motor leads to terminals A and 1 Use dry switching terminals to control another load. Local electrical codes for commercial wiring will determine which voltages can be used. 480 volts carries twice the power of 240 volt, and can deliver more power per amp than lower voltages. Since volts are the force that push amperage (electrons) through the wire, the added power make 480 volt extremely dangerous, and therefore must be installed correctly to meet safety standards. T104 timer and T106 timer together Problem: The T106 timer is either high or low speed, but never OFF. The pump runs full time. To solve problem, a T104 is added to circuit. This means the T106 will toggle the pump between high and low speed. And the T104 timer turns off the pump. Note the T104 does not turn off the T106 timer ... instead it overrides the T106 and turns off the pump. When T104 timer turns off, the pump resumes high-low operation based on when the T106 timer is in high or low. T104 using 40 amp contactor and freeze thermostat Move clock motor wires to terminals A and 1 for SPST operation. --A freeze thermostat or freeze switch will turn Load ON when temperature drops below 40°F, and then turn off when temperature rises again. -Low cost way to turn on pool or irrigation pump or heater etc when freezing temperatures are expected. Note the contactor coil should be 240 volt, or same voltage as timer. -When temperature drops, then freeze thermostat completes circuit to the contactor coil. Contactor coil pulls the switching terminals together, and overrides the timer, turning on the Load. -Contactor is approx 2" wide, 2.3" long, and 2.6" tall. -There is generally NOT enough space in the wiring compartment of T104 to add a contactor.
