Howard asks? If peripheral installations are impractical, can 2000W electric 20-gallon-tank point-of-use water heaters be installed in central boiler rooms to heat domestic water for whole houses whose occupants use little hot water? |
Answer Bath uses 15 gallon hot, so a 20 gallon would probably be bare minimum.Typical shower uses 4-9 gallon hot.Thermostat set to 120, and typical bath shower 100-110°F If your existing power is 240 volt, then select heater rated for 240 volt and not 120 volt. Resources: Increase-amount-of-hot-water.html 9-ways-to-save-with-water-heater.html FYI We have 2 people in home and use hot water sparingly, and have 240 volt 30 gallon heater that costs 19$ a month to operate. We can get two baths staggered hour apart, or bath and a shower at same time.
