Make pipe plumb (vertical
level), and hold pipe in
place until next day. Keep concrete lower than grass level so grass will fill in and look good. Or raise concrete above grass and finish nicely so it matches look of property. Remember, your work is seen for many years, and should add value to whatever you work on. Go slow, concrete takes many hours to dry. Clean wet concrete off pipe so it will not intefere with handrail. |

Installing 3/4" pipe handrail 3/4" galvanized pipe makes good handrail. To help make it more attractive, use treated 4x4 posts with a bevel cut along top. Us this so rail is less noticeable, and then landscape features are not blocked by railing. Here, the first post is set in concrete. Use any material to hold post until contrete dries next day. I used a 2x2, and 2x3 and several short pieces of wood screwed into wood walkway. Once first post is in place, then use first post to help stablize next post. Use two 45 degree elbows to make any angle |
