Copper ground wire.
Every device, load, metal enclosure etc must be grounded. Ground wire must be continuous throughout installation, never switched on-off, never used as a Neutral wire.
Generally ... use same size as other wire in circuit

armored cable
Non metallic flexible cables must carry ground wire, but do not have hazard of short circuit causing injury from shock.

Armored steel cable can be used as a grounded connection, and will protect wires from damage. Metal can be energized from an insulation failure.

All conduit ...metal, plastic ... flexible and rigid ... must be attached to structure, and attached to enclosures, boxes.
Movement, damage and deterioration are major cause of electrical failure.

Electrical tools must be insulated.
Always best to disconnect power, but insulation failure, lack of proper grounding, grounded neutral, lack of GFCI, out-of-code wiring, generator operating without transfer switch, and other problems still pose a risk to anyone working on electric power ... even when breaker is off.

Protect wiring from damage
Use nipper instead of pliers or screwdriver for removing staples (and nails). Do not damage cable or wires inside cable.

-Code says: Cable SHALL BE secured without damage to the outer covering. NEC sec. 336-15

Electrically insulated tools
When removing insulation from wire, do NOT score or put cuts on surface of copper wire. Doing so increases resistance and heat on wire and creates possible weak point.

Instructions: Reset first, Test wire, then install.
120 volt  test wiring was done outside using extension cord ... so I could check wifi reception .,... before attaching to structure and hardwiring with 240 volt.

Nema3R weather-resistant enclosure is solid construction, with a metal latch.
Do not expose to direct sunlight or high heat.
Always locate enclosure at least 12" above anticipated snowfall.
Attach WiOn and wires to solid structure so wiring cannot be torn loose.
For longest lifespan of product, install in sheltered area, not exposed to harsh weather.
Wion manual

1) Wion wifi contactor can be used to control HeatPro via the P_S terminals on the heat pump control board

Caution:

-You would not apply voltage to HeatPro P_S terminals.
-Do not apply voltage to the P_S terminals on HeatPro
-The P_S terminals are 'dry'

See Haywood manual page 12 about external control:
Resources:
Page 12 of manual
Full manual
Page 12 of manual talk about controlling HeatPro with ordinary ON-OFF switch.
Wion wifi contactor can be wired to act as ON-OFF switch
- if Wion is OFF, then the P_S terminals are open (OFF) and the board is in Pool Mode.
- if Wion is ON, then the P_S terminals are closed (ON) and the board is in Spa Mode.
The exact range of function using external control requires reading full manual.

Wiring safety:
By code, Low voltage and high voltage wires are allowed inside the same enclosure (box) without a separation.
The incoming 120-240 volt wires that power the Wion are considered high voltage.
Bell wire and thermostat wire, communications cables, structural wiring, coax, phone line etc wires are low voltage, and should not be used to connect to the PS terminals on HeatPro
The wires connected to NO1 and COM1 terminals should be rated for residential power

-Wiring diagram Fig 1
NO1 and COM1 are 'dry' switching terminals.
Dry means they are simple on-off switch ... and have no power unless power is connected to the dry terminals.
Connect two wires to NO1 and COM1, and connect other ends of these two wires to PS terminals.

Connect single-phase 120-240-277 volt to terminals L and N as shown Fig 1.
Or pull 240 volt off the Haywood HeatPro as shown Fig 2
This connection can be made at the Haywood contactor.
This will supply power to the wifi contactor so it turns on-off as required.
