Electrical tools must be insulated. Always best to disconnect power, but insulation failure, lack of proper grounding, grounded neutral, lack of GFCI, out-of-code wiring, generator operating without transfer switch, and other problems still pose a risk to anyone working on electric power ... even when breaker is off. Add
vent fan to boiler circuit so fan runs when boiler is ON.
When boiler turns off, vent fan continues running for period of time, then turns off. AH3 off delay, 0-60 minute delay Use same design to provide air to Heat pump water heater General purpose relay with NO NC contacts needed. Relay coil voltage that can be controlled by boiler... for example 24 VAC etc Boiler turns on.... relay turns ON Fan turns ON Boiler turns OFF... relay turns OFF Delay countdown begins Fan continues to run Fan turns OFF when countdown ends Resources: How to wire twin timer How to wire off delay timer Override thermostat with programmable timer |

Use a temperature controller |
Larger image Use a temperature controller Tape or attach temperatur probe to boiler pipe Input 120 volt Hot to terminals 8-9, Neutral to terminal 10. The fan
circuit is 120 volt. The Hot
wire is connected
to COM6 on Boiler Relay. Neutral is connected to Fan and to Timer
terminal 7. When 120 volt Hot is applied to Timer terminal 2, it energizes the delay Timer ... and energizes Timer terminal 8. When Timer is energized, Terminal 8 sends power to terminal 5 Terminal 5 turns ON and stays ON until delay period ends, at which point terminal 5 turns OFF Lets's say you plug in 120 volt power for the first time. Lets's say the Boiler Relay is OFF. Hot wire for the Fan is connected to 6COM on Boiler Relay. The Boiler Relay is OFF, so power from 6COM travels to 2NC (normally closed) Power from 2NC (normally closed) energizes Timer terminal 2 and 8, which starts delay countdown ... which means Timer terminal 5 is ON and sending power to fan through Boiler Relay terminals 1NC and 8COM When delay period ends, Timer terminal 5 turns OFF so no power goes to Fan ... why? Because terminal 5 is OFF ... ... so that cuts off one path for power to get to Fan through Boiler Relay terminals 1NC and 8COM . And since Boiler Relay is OFF, then no power is getting to terminal 4 NO (normally open) and that cuts off second way for power to get to Fan. When Boiler Relay turns ON .... then power travels from 6COM to 4NO and Fan turns ON 4NO stays on until Boiler Relay turns OFF. When Boiler Relay turns OFF, then relay 4NO is OFF, but 2NC (normally open) turns ON .... power travels to Timer terminals 8 and 2. The sequence starts from top again ... Timer terminal 5 is ON until countdown ends ... then terminal 5 turns OFF ... and Fan turns OFF. |

Hybrid heat pump water heater requires 10'
x 10' room If you do not have adequate room, then install thru-wall fan to bring fresh air into the room, or vent the air into adjacent room. Running a fan to supply air to meet the needs of heat pump water heater adds energy cost, but saves energy if heat pump cannot get enough fresh air ... why? the heat pump loses efficiency with restricted air flow. The thru-wall fan will improve efficiency and is cheaper than the factory-sold heat pump vent systems. Wires and amp or current switch must be inside enclosed box. Note that the amp switch must be installed on 1 wire in the circuit. Two wires might cancel each other out, and amp switch not activate.
