How the internet has become like TV and Radio.
author page
The basic principle of media today is to make money.
No money, no media.
The original function of TV, Radio was communication.
Anybody could set up a radio station.
Mom and pop could climb the mountain because nobody owned it.
... until bandwidth got too crowded.
Conflicts over bandwidth caused the government (we the people) to regulate bandwidth.
Supposedly then, all people would still have equal chance to broadcast.
Obviously, Facebook demonstrates that people want to broadcast.
Back to radio, TV: advertisers discovered they could buy up broadcast rights and put it on a paying basis.
Remember, no money, no media.
Soon we were locked out of broadcasting and relegated into consumers of other people's media ..
And then consolidation ... forget it ... your voice can never be heard on those wavelengths again ...

Enter the internet.
Freedom to climb the mountain again, yahoo.
Except advertisers soon put it on a paying basis.
No money, no media.
Oh sure you can post on facebook, and social media and youtube ... but only on somebody else's server... under their terms of service
It's no longer your terms or rules that you freely determine
.. and then your content only exists at the whim of google, or bing (what a stupid name choice) ../. and believe me, sooner or later at the whim of 'government' censors, secretly paid by whatever force wants to own your freedom.
Because owning you is the purpose of media today  ... to limit your freedom... force you into a pipeline of conformity or 'buying choices'

... and OMG what a morass of popups and flash and delays and barriers the owners of the internet have erected.
Geezus ... try to download that free manual ... among a blizzard of 'download now' buttons for crap that nobody could possibly want.

You have to turn off the sound just for peace of mind...

But the worst is PREFERENCES.
Think about this: the choices you see today is based on the choices you made yesterday.
It's like going to a dating site, but they keep showing you pictures of the people you dated before ... because you liked him/her before.
Really? Yes.
It's a complete denial of the real world where rivers and history never flow in a straight line.

My preferences say I want to see democratic memes on facebook (currently) and they know this, so they will not show posts with nazi flags.
Nor posts from Britain, or elsewhere in the world, despite my keen interest in all thing around us.
Can't see em so they must not exist. Correct ! Because they might offend me into not buying something.
Instead I see sterilized mass-produced bs, even though I'm an old miserable bored guy who studies electric wiring and would love to see electro-mechanical recommendations.
How bout a good transformer, scarecrow?
No no no, search for transformer and the internet offers transformer toys.
Electrical transformers are not mass market, even though a good education on transformers would help the public understand the problems with solar power, the grid, rising costs, the foolishness of giant oversized homes and buildings, etc.
But helping the public understand a topic might stop them from clicking on the endless promotion-disguised-as-information that floods the internet.
So we cannot easily see the real content that we want, like the car I want to buy next, or the thing I will be intertested in next week, because the mass media is based on our previous likes-dislikes ....
Our PREFERENCES.
But only when those preferences make money for somebody.
That's why the TV doesn't let us choose broadcasts from India.
Instead they offer 'best vacuum' or 'the jewelry show' ... and charge money for it, calling it the top 100 ...
For real ... in America ... a vacuum cleaner is the top 100?

And podcasts ... think that's not owned and locked up by advertisers, and 'standards' and preferences same as radio TV?
How long before best vacuum cleaner is ranked top 100 there? 10 years? 4 years? Fingers down the throat barf...

It's the same reason why there are categories of music. Country western.
It's why the new must mimic the old.
Except stupid is as stupid does, and we know it, but let our truest freedoms float away because we're busy with important stuff like 'fighting for our country,' and trying to figure out which diet program to buy, because eating less at each meal couldn't possibly work because it doesn't feed the advertisers who are howling into every crevice of life.
It's why people are DISSATISFIED
It's why we want change ... but somehow we are looking everywhere else, confused why we are dissatisfied...
And why we the people love green spaces, trees, clean water, and less traffic but developers keep pouring more heat-seeking concrete.
Use only 600 volt wire.
Lamp cord, extension cords are not rated 600 volt.
Use copper wire only. Aluminum wire is fire risk and should be avoided or installed by professional.

30 amp breaker use 10 gauge /
120-240 volt 30 amp outlet can be installed on 30 amp breaker only/ use 10 gauge wire ... cannot be connected to 15-20-40 amp breaker.

Copper ground wire.
Every device, load, metal enclosure etc must be grounded. Ground wire must be continuous throughout installation, never switched on-off, never used as a Neutral wire.
Generally ... use same size as other wire in circuit
Buy:
12 gauge copper ground wire
Ground wire
Green ground wire
Ground pigtails
Ground rods/ ground clamps at Amazon
armored cable
Armored cable can be used as a grounded connection, and will protect wires from damage. Metal can be energized from an insulation failure.

Non metallic flexible cables must carry ground wire, but does not have hazard of short circuit causing injury from shock.

All conduit ...metal, plastic ... flexible and rigid ... must be attached to structure, and attached to enclosures, boxes.
Movement, damage and deterioration are major cause of electrical failure.
Buy:
Armored cable
Southwire armored cable cutter
Non-metallic flexible conduit
Power whip
Pull boxes
Southwire armored cable cutter
Electrical tools must be insulated.
Always best to disconnect power, but issues of insulation failure, lack of proper grounding, lack of GFCI, out-of-code wiring, generator operating without transfer switch, and other problems pose a risk to anyone working on electric power.

Buy:
Electrician tools kits
Klein tools
Tools kits
stranded wire
12 ga Stranded wire is good for conduit with multiple wires ... but stranded cannot be installed under screw terminals on outlets, switches, timers etc without risk ... of heat causing splayed strands ....that come loose ... and begin to arc. Connect stranded to short piece of solid copper wire, and attach solid to screw terminal. Do not solder residential or commercial wiring.
Buy:
Rolls of stranded wire

Protect wiring from damage
Use nipper instead of pliers or screwdriver for removing staples (and nails). Do not damage cable or wires inside cable.

-Code says: Cable SHALL BE secured without damage to the outer covering. NEC sec. 336-15
