County Fire service Fort Bend CountyRosenberg, Texasauthor page |
I'm
from Texas...the people here are properly insane ... They voted out local fire service during the drought to save $230 a year ... then discovered barriers to homeowners insurance and bank financing. ... naturally they fought against the city bringing local water lines in because of higher city taxes. ... and they wanted to keep water wells with water we can't drink. ... pumped out of the same soil where the old septic fields are located. ... and downstream from a mothballed county landfill that has no liner. ... overlooking that fire hydrants and city fire service came with the water lines. ... then tried to set up a volunteer fire service and buy 1 firetruck for $50,000 with proceeds from a gun raffle. ... but couldn't sell tickets because everybody already had too many guns. ... and the proposed new pumper truck would only hold 10 minutes of water. ... before having to drive several miles to a city water hydrant where it would take 20 minutes to refill. |

Two
years later, they re-voted the issue. ... and the nutballs stayed home. ... resulting in higher tax rate and restored fire service. ... BUT only on a 2-year trial basis. |

Next year we vote again |
