I stop by Lowes every couple days to buy little fix-up stuff for the
house... and always park in a blue zone that's closer to store than
handicap spots...
Folks sometimes scorn at me for the errant of my ways ... but I try to
keep my rule-following to a minimum ... which is a lot easier way to
live since you don't have to judge others by their habits... and it
frees me to ask what the other guy can see that I can't ... which is
very informative.
So today, the guy parked next to me is loading his trunk, and steps out
and confronts me as I exit the car ... he says that's not a parking
spot ... he's obviously a good american and follows rules hard and fast
...
I turned and walked up to him... at which point he realized I am a
large fellow ... and he began backing away ... not the point because he
was again judging me by the rules ... whatever they might be in his
head..
I said, let me show you something, and pulled off my corrective shoe
that I make on the back porch ... and showed my deformed ankle, and
then the shoe, and how I glued a wedge, and inserted a piece of
aluminum ... and told him that I can't walk without these shoes and
that I walk on an aluminum plate, and not on a soft surface while
pointing to his slip-on shoes ... then told him the doctor wanted 1000s
for a worse repair ... then he said, yeah, a lot of people would just
give up ... since everybody is less than him and on welfare ... as if
he knows anything about people ... then I told him, so this is a good
spot for me to park...
He said go for it ... lol ... but then I changed the topic and asked,
so what are you doing? And he told me the life story ... worked for
Shell ... saved them millions blah blah interesting ... he was the best
at everything of course.
When I left, I was thinking that man literally will never know the
shoes that other people walk in ... maybe because he is too busy
judging by the rules ... whatever those are.
