My grandfather.
Charles Haynes McFarland Kansas
In his 90s, my father, Don Haynes told a story about his father
... my dad never shared much until his mind got old
... so it was very special hearing stories about his life for the first time

... my granddad worked on the steam locomotives at the Santa Fe roundhouse in McFarland Kansas
... until the railroad converted to diesel
.... and they send out the GE representative with a manual showing how to fix the new locomotives
... and my granddad studied that manual and worked at it until he supposedly became the 'authority' on repairing diesel locomotives of that era
... and story was, they kept the roundhouse open in McFarland and all the local men employed because of my granddad

.... and all that made me finally realize which branch of the family tree I descended from
... I'd say from the guy who liked to read manuals and figure out how to fix the locomotive
