Three things I learned so far in life
There are three things I have learned so far in life.
1. you can never
predict the future based on what our worries are today
2. there will be
other fresh and new things to worry about in the future
3. people will
always follow the gold
I have said for years that if the republicans were serious about making
future scientists, they could just tell folks there is a good
possibility that some asteroids are made of gold – and that our nation
is sending probes to the asteroid belt to find gold. After that
announcement, there would be an explosion of amateur scientists learning about
rockets and robotics.
Well guess what – yep, the republicans invented a ‘gold in space’
story.
Two years ago the republicans announced that we were going back
to the moon – and the scientific community gave out a collective yawn.
Why send men to the moon when a probe could accomplish more science.
And what science was available on the moon?
Last year nasa started a
competition that would give grants to folks who could come up with some
sort of science we could do on the moon. And the republicans found the
lottery ticket!!!!
Recently nasa announced that we were going to the moon because there
are a million tons of helium 3 mixed in with the moon’s soil – and we
need He3 for fusion reactors – but the chemical is so rare on earth
that the helium on the moon would be worth untold wealth for the people
clever enough to bring it back. Ah ha, gold !!
Of course it costs a million dollars a minute to keep men on the moon –
and as yet there is no way to bring back 25000 truck loads of helium,
let alone move machinery and processing plants around the surface to
collect helium scattered over the entire 30 million square mile of
surface of the moon.
It doesn’t matter – the republicans got their ‘gold’ story – and now
they’re selling it to the public.
Pretty clever I say. But why always so stupid?
