My father called
... said he could no longer
... play golf and mow yard on same day
...he's 91 years old, working on 92
... having survived world war II
... and all the war reunions
... and survived the following:
... hand pumped well water
... a youth spent swimming in local creek
... before modern sanitation
... a summer on the railroad work gang\
... jumping off a boxcar
... pitching baseball
... teaching 6th grade
... small town school superintendent
... me
... thesis on a typewriter
... the corporate world
... push down and downsizing
... cleaning gutters from the roof
... living on mountainside in NC
... driving down icy driveway for couple decades
... golf without buying plaid pants
... the VA
... cell phones
... bridge baron
... skunk, bear, bobcat, chipmunk, squirrel, cats, deer
... and now the greatest calamity...
... can't play golf and cut yard same day.
Wish I could do either on any day.
