Instructions for two illustrations above> 240 Volt water heater can be controlled by turning off one hot wire or both hot wires.> Turn off circuit breaker > nail box onto nearby 2x4 > connect 10-2 wire as shown > attach wires to 30 Amp switch and tighten screws firmly against copper wire > attach switch to box > screw wire nuts tight. > Wires should be twisted together before wire nut goes on > see Twisting wires & wire nut basics > note: 10 gauge wire is hard to twist: here's a trick > cut back insulation so more copper shows. |
