Electrical Tips for choosing box-type water heater timer
1. Check load rating is 30 Amps
or more for safety. Most 240V water heaters are 3500, 4500 and 5500 Watts divided by 240 Volts = 14.5 Amps, 18.8 Amps, and 23 Amps.
2. In southern states, outdoor installation in direct sun will shorten life of timer.
3. Timers listed on this page are safe for 1 residential water heater.

Tips for choosing & installing water heater timer
1. Re-setting timers after power outage is inconvenient, especially when located outdoors after thunderstorm.
2. Check timer has enough on-off periods per day or per week
3. Men install timers, but women are involved and don't like remote locations requiring flashlight.
4. Put timer at eye-level

In-wall timer harder to install, but gives easy access any time. In-wall adds value to home.
